The options here are nearly endless, but we have many favorites to share. Below, we will discuss our three favorite places to find excellent riding routes for you to discover.

As you begin to explore, we highly recommend the use of a GPS, like the Garmin Edge 830. These and others are discussed in further detail on our site at our GPS Discussion. With a GPS, you will have a multitude of functionality, which includes a map. These maps can have routes downloaded that will provide you with turn by turn directions on a visible map. Dozens of other features will be discussed elsewhere, but the important feature for this discussion is the ability to download routes on great places to ride, whether close to home or around the world.

After grabbing your GPS, lets discuss where to find great routes. Most of these are user supported route suggestions. Please keep in mind that these are built by a community of cyclists. Many have options to select legal riding routes for e-bikes, but please place close attention to where you can ride. Until we all build universal support and acceptance of the e-bike community, we need to collectively do our best to stay on legal paths.

Strava.com is a great resource. In fact, you may find some of your own friends already using the platform upon signing up. There are several levels that do include some subscriptions, but honestly, there is a lot of functionality within the free version as well. Great routes can be found from your community here to download to your GPS, and likely for free.

Trailforks.com is another good resource for ride routes. More detail is placed on current trail conditions, and connections to Strava are available. We have found fewer routes on here, but still an excellent resource to consider as each area is different. As you enter the site, there is an option to select E-Bike, which is recommended to find the best selection, but not everything that will show up as a route will allow E-Bikes, so best to dig into the route details first.

RidewithGPS.com is one of our favorite route planners. There are great resources to be found here, but it does take research to find the legal E-Bike routes. There is also a good route builder function on this site, as well as premium options. We have been satisfied with the basic version thusfar, so we cannot share about these options.

In wrapping up this discussion, another excellent GPS alternative to the Garmin is the Wahoo Elemnt Roam. Later, we will have a much more in depth discussion about the latest GPS models on the market and our review of each with a discussion on their features.
